Freshers Orientation Program of Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science

The Freshmen Orientation Program – Spring 2025 for the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (ADS)  was held on January 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM in Room B-111, warmly welcoming our newest students with an engaging and informative session.

The program commenced with recitations from the Holy Quran and Gita by members of GUCC, setting a solemn and inspiring tone for the event. We were honored by the presence of distinguished guests:

• Chief Guest: Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Azad, Dean, FSE, and Director of IQAC, GUB

• Special Guest: Prof. Dr. Md. Ahsan Habib, Professor, Dept. of CSE, Former Chair, IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter

• Session Chair: Dr. Muhammad Abul Hasan, Chairperson & Associate Professor, Dept. of ADS, GUB

The orientation began with an inspiring speech by our special guest, Prof. Dr. Md. Ahsan Habib, who emphasized the department’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and research. He shared insights into the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) and their transformative impact across industries.

Following this, our Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Azad, delivered a motivational speech, reflecting on technological advancements and the vast career opportunities available to students in this field.

Our Chairperson, Dr. Muhammad Abul Hasan, then formally welcomed the freshmen, introducing them to the faculty members and presenting them with special welcome gifts. His speech highlighted the department’s values, academic expectations, and research opportunities in AI and ML. He concluded by appreciating the efforts of the organizing team in making the event a success.

The program continued with an informative presentation by Ms. Wahia Tasnim, Lecturer & Program Coordinator, Dept. of ADS, on the role of Program Coordinators and the academic guidance framework. This session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students actively participated, seeking clarity on various aspects of their academic journey.

Additionally, a session on the Mentorship Program was conducted by Rimon Ahmed (CSE), GUCC, emphasizing its significance in supporting students’ academic and personal growth.

The event was skillfully hosted by Brinta Saha (CSE), GUCC, ensuring a seamless flow of activities. The program concluded with a group photoshoot, capturing the enthusiasm and excitement of our newest members. The event was highly interactive, engaging, and well-received by the students, setting a strong foundation for their academic journey at the Green University of Bangladesh.
