Departmental Strategic Committee


The Departmental Strategic Committee (DSC) is formed to departmental long-term growth, academic excellence, and operational efficiency. The committee aligns departmental activities with institutional goals and ensures proactive planning across various domains such as academics, research, industry collaboration, and student development.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Vision and Mission Alignment

  • Define or update the department’s vision, mission, and core values.

  • Ensure all departmental initiatives align with the broader institutional strategy.

  • Set long-term and short-term strategic goals.

2. Academic Planning

  • Propose new curriculum updates, courses, or programs based on emerging trends.

  • Periodically review and improve existing syllabi and teaching methodologies.

  • Promote outcome-based education (OBE) and accreditation readiness (e.g., NBA, NAAC).

3. Research & Development

  • Encourage faculty and students to pursue research projects and publications.

  • Identify focus areas and promote research clusters or cells (e.g., AI, IoT, Cybersecurity).

  • Facilitate collaborations with national/international research institutions.

4. Industry Collaboration & Internship Opportunities

  • Establish MoUs with companies for internships, training, and sponsored projects.

  • Organize industrial visits, guest lectures, and tech talks.

  • Set up centers of excellence (CoEs) in collaboration with industry partners.

5. Faculty Development

  • Recommend and support participation in FDPs, workshops, and higher studies.

  • Monitor faculty performance and assist in goal setting for academic improvement.

  • Encourage interdisciplinary and innovative teaching practices.

6. Student Development & Support

  • Design skill development programs, mentoring systems, and innovation platforms.

  • Monitor student performance, placements, and alumni engagement.

  • Promote participation in hackathons, competitions, and technical societies.

7. Infrastructure & Resources

  • Assess and recommend upgrades to lab facilities, classrooms, and digital resources.

  • Plan and propose budget requirements for strategic initiatives.

8. Quality Assurance & Benchmarking

  • Conduct SWOT analysis and suggest improvements.

  • Benchmark against peer institutions or national/global standards.

  • Regularly review KPIs such as research output, placement rates, student success, etc.

9. Policy Making and Governance

  • Draft or revise departmental policies on attendance, evaluation, and academic integrity.

  • Ensure compliance with university and regulatory guidelines (AICTE, UGC, etc.).
